Camino de Santiago Homage - 2D Animation

Camino de Santiago Character 
In 2024 I walked the Camino de Santiago and it was such a beautiful and life changing experience. I wanted to create a short animation to capture that feeling of seeing the beautiful Spanish landscape rolling past you. 
 The Background
I created the background layers in Illustrator and stacked them in 2.5D space in After Effects. 
The Character 
After sketching out the character I created her limbs in Illustrator. I rigged her together using Duik Angela (legs and torso) and Limber Lite (arms). I created some dynamic depth on the sleeves and boots using the 'connectors' in Duik to make her seem less flat. I repeated this process for a body tilt and head rig so that she could be more expressive than a basic Duik rig.
